Loan Officer II

SUMMARY

In accordance with established lending policies and procedures, examines, evaluates, and authorizes or recommends approval of member applications for lines or extension of lines of credit, secured or unsecured consumer loans, credit card accounts, and other loan products that meet the established lending criteria and are within approved lending limits.  Provides a variety of service functions, including sales and servicing all credit union products and services.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential duties and responsibilities of this position include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  • Review loan application; check completeness and accuracy of required forms.
  • Review and update information on member’s credit file, credit bureau report and determine eligibility for request within credit union policy. Analyze credit bureau report for other loan opportunities to sell to our members.
  • Counsel members about loan problems, changes in terms of payment schedules, including extensions and release of secured collateral. Review with member’s the purpose, amount and type of loan which best suits their needs.
  • Obtain information on collateral offered (including inspection and valuation), secure new or revised payroll deduction authorizations when necessary, secures proper signatures on documents. Obtain necessary forms for securing collateral with credit union as lienholder.
  • Review systems for applications that have been submitted. Contact member for additional information needed to process loan request and approval.
  • Assist member with Black Book and/or NADA auto values, credit life and disability insurance, etc.
  • Generate monthly Paid Loan Report and other reports as needed. Process proper lien releases and mail collateral to members as warranted.
  • Follow up on any dealer drafts that have not been paid in a timely manner by contacting the dealership an inquiring about the title work.
  • Perform notary services as needed and complete loan denials as required by regulations
  • Work on past due accounts or contacting delinquent members as requested by the collection department.
  • May be granted limited access to credit card processor with the ability to process and order MasterCards.
  • May be required to register with NMLS.
  • Lending authorization which is defined in loan policy and may be modified on a periodic basis.
  • Answer telephone requests or written requests for loan information.

May also include:

  • Review reports for maturing certificates and refinance secured loans with appropriate terms and interest rates.
  • Review the credit card expiration report and take action if needed.
  • Retrieve report, monitor, document, and implement the single interest insurance program.
  • Other duties as required

OTHER DUTIES OF ALL EMPLOYEES

  • Represent the credit union to members in a courteous, professional manner at all times. Provide prompt, efficient and accurate service in processing transactions so that the result is member satisfaction.
  • Promote a positive image of the credit union by arriving for work as scheduled so that service to members can begin promptly with established business hours; use break times responsibly by leaving and arriving as scheduled.
  • Use sick and annual leave responsibly, always reporting sick leave or scheduled leave in advance.
  • Promote teamwork by assisting others with work when needed or when own work is complete.
  • Conduct personal financial dealing with the credit union in an unquestionable manner, including: paying loans on time, avoiding excessive indebtedness, not handling personal or family account transactions, and not writing checks against insufficient funds.
  • Responsible to attain and maintain working knowledge of all appropriate credit union Policy and Procedural Manuals.
  • Promote Texas Bridge Credit Union by attending and participating in various credit union industry and/or community oriented meetings and other involvement opportunities when possible.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree preferred; or five or more years lending experience; or equivalent education and experience.  Prefer current working knowledge of lending policies, lending procedures, Credit Union Rules and Regulations, Bylaws, Finance Code and Federal Credit Union Laws and Regulations.  Strong computer skills and excellent communication and organizational skills required.
